2019 a peculiar year for a whole catalog of reasons
I always think in songs; today, January 3, 2020, it’s “What A Difference A Day Makes”. War hovers, weather overwhelms, species disappear, depression chases grief, but, despite our fears for the future, life goes on here in our ‘View With a Room’, in NYbG, (Frank Gehry Building, the one Ted says looks like a crushed beer can). His physical woes are leveling off. He is definitely on an upswing. His books are on Amazon, and we’re thrilled that he has completed recording his, “The Shakespeare Fraud” for an eventual AudioBook. Engrossing & fascinating! Can’t wait!
2019 Ten years since Madoff forced the loss of our house on 11th St. (thanks to the NBC video, it lives on in my heart & on YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA_vD6xnKiA&t=9s We hung Madoff in effigy at that final holiday party (Ponzi Punch, Prison Pasta etc.), but he lives on, seemingly thriving. Our girls (Samantha, Acupuncture; Alexandra, Renaissance Mom) have become women of whom we are hugely proud, taking on life’s challenges with dignity & courage. Our grandsons, tall & bright, are bursting with interests & discoveries (Declan, 16, guitar; Bowie, 13, dessert baking). Once again, clichés speak truth: being grandparents is all that was promised. Happy!
2020 Canary goes on singing songs that speak to my heart.
Spoiler Alert: Shameless Self-Promotion Ahead > hey, this was my first Cabaret show since “John Denver, Bernie Madoff & Me” & this one seemed to “strike a chord.” (https://nitelifeexchange.com/cynthia-crane-much-more-than-a-saloon-singer/ - https://theaterpizzazz.com/this-is-a-changing-world-my-dear-whether-you-like-it-or-not-says-cynthia-crane/ ) Thus, another show is in the works: “Still Crazy After All These Years”. And I am!
A big morale booster was discovery of my American Embassy, 1990 Paris concert. On a Cassette Tape yet! It was a black tie, sold-out, dinner performance, bang, on La Place de la Concorde. “An American W.A.S.P. In Paris” with Bob Goldstone at the piano, a whopping 23 songs, 3 encores & a standing ovation. Mon Dieu! So, we decided to put out a freebie CD. 1990 was the year of the Gulf War; tensions were high, but the joy of the evening is palpable.
The freebie CD is packaged in a small, 2-sided envelope; I figured I could mail it to my entire Crane’s Clarion mailing list, but, @ $2.75 each, I ran out of stamps early on ($14+ to France killed mailing to Europe). However, you can hear the whole show (& lots more) on my YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIzeEezOjb0&t=7s )
If you want the physical CD, let me know. I’d be delighted to send it; I’ll get more stamps 🙂
Meet me on FaceBook or Instagram or YouTube, any way you can.
At my age, I am free, with an open heart to say & to mean:
